Fine English violin from 1600's <eliasgoldstein@yahoo.com> - Willowbrook, Il USA - Monday, June 06, 2005 This is a fine violin most probably of English origin. It appears to be an amati pattern. It has a deep belly typical of the period. This instrument has been owned and played on by a professional musician in the Chicago area (who has played with members of the CSO). The instrument does have numerous repaired cracks which can be expected of an instrument of this age. However, it is perfectly playable, and has a dark and rich sound. This instrument is also very light as it is carved fairly thinly. Unfortunately the owner must part with this instrument. Please email for photos. The owner is asking only $2,400 Beautiful Fine Viola played by professional <eliasgoldstein@yahoo.com> - Willowbrook, Il USA - Monday, June 06, 2005 Check out this fine viola. It does not bear any label. However, it was bought in Romania this past summer. It is most likely of bohemian origin. Perfect condition. It was recently set up my Michael Becker fine violins in Park Ridge Illinois. The fingerboard, bridge and nut were replaced. The size is about 15 inches which makes it a perfect match for a smaller violist or a violinist who is in need of such an instrument. It has a 2 piece back of fine maple and the top is spruce. It is of a darker color and does not have any visible repaired cracks. There is definately no soundpost crack.
