I am selling a cello that was made in Makrneukirchen, Germany in the 1920's or 30's. The instrument has been mine through high school and three years of college playing. The instrument was appraised for $7500 when it was purchased by me and I am selling it with a hard case and a bow. I can also include some old strings that I have used on it. French copy made about 1900. Label reads "Copie de, Deconeti (Michel), Venice 1742". The violin has a flamed two piece-back with matching ribs. The neck is more highly flamed and the scroll is not cut quite all the way. The back is also a 14 & 1/8 inch back. The top has a very close grain and several imitation cracks. The varnish is a light yellow-brown. A beautiful instrument and in very good condition. Appraised at $3000. Photos availabe at request. Make an offer!

This is one of the best violins that I have ever had and it sounds almost as good as my violin that's worth over $4,000! It is a beautiful golden color that is very unique. The violin has a one piece back and the varnish job is excellent. It was completely setup by a skilled luthier, the bridge was carefully fitted, the ebony fittings are high quality as well as the fingerboard. The neck is smooth and comfortable. It is one of the easiest violins I have ever played, with a very quick reponse and a singing tone that flows out with light bowing. The tone is mellow but very powerful and clear. This is a nice Mathias Thoma full size violin. The model is MT100 and it is a European made instrument. The Mathias Thoma violins are usually always high quality and play great for their price. This one is a nice dark color and it is easy to play, it would be good for the beginner to intermediate range of student. It has a good mellow tone. This particular model is at least $700.00 new and even higher in a lot of music stores. It was used for about 5 months and is in very good condition, as well as the case and bow.
