Nice sounding old violin-Made in France Pierre silvstre.Has two top cracks that has been repaired and wont affect any further.Has origional label inside dated 1862.Ive had several violin players to play this instrument and they have all commented on the sound.I believe with a profesional set up this would be a fine quality instrument.would take 800.oo and shipping cost or would trade the instrument for a guarneri copy of comparable vaue. Wonderful strad copy with the typical marks of the maker. Very well balanced with powerfull wide opened sound and best playing condition without cracks! Use for proffessional playing in concert. Fine 16 and 1/2 inch viola made by Charles J.B. Collin-Mezin bearing a supporting label and a signature of the maker. Condition is excellent (there is one repaired wing crack on the table). Sound is uncommon to French instruments in its exceptionaly large volume combined with pleasant and well projecting timbre (not a typical French "nasal" tone). A true viola sound! Beautiful Cardinal Model 1920-30 Andreas Morelli reproduction of a 1724 Joseph Guarnerius. 7/8 size with full size string length make this Violin a joy to play. Big, beautiful, warm sound. Perfect condition. Excellent professional instrument for a smaller player. Med. coarse grain European Spruce top plate. Back plate moderately flamed of booked matched maple, with neck, ribs and scroll to match. Varnish is warm brown over umber ground with light distressing and antiquing. Current appraisal of $7,500.
