I have a Vuillaume a Paris violin with a signed bow. The case is in bad shape. It has to be over 100 years old.This is from my friends fathers estate. I have an old violin with the inscription Antonius Stradivarius Cremonenlis faciebat Anno 17., it has an A S with a cross between them and surrounded by a circle emblem. The body is shows wear but there are no cracks, tone is very good and it is handmade with ebony parts. The lines around the top are inlaid. It is accompanied by a note written in 1906 for $1 by which to purchase 6 E strings. Can any one give me an idea of the worth or what the emblem means?
