Really Nice German Trade Violin <giannaviolins@yahoo.com> - Friendsville, TN USA - Tuesday, October 15, 2002

This is not a typical trade fiddle, but rather shows substantial character and handwork. The tone is exceptionally well centered and easy to listen to as player or audience. Balance and response are excellent and easy. Volume is very good. More remarkably, the instrument is extremely forgiving and exceptionally easy to play, a real delight. Ideal for the advancing student, but certainly of entry-level professional quality. We call this "the friendly German fiddle." No label, no cracks, only normal minor wear. Probably from the 1920s or 30s.
Nice German Amati Copy, Beautiful Flame <giannaviolins@yahoo.com> - Friendsville, TN USA - Tuesday, October 15, 2002

Very nice trade violin, no cracks, only minor wear, rosewood fittings except figured ebony chinrest, fine tuners, Helicore strings, Despiau C bridge, very nice workmanship, scroll looks hand carved. Two-piece maple back with fine crinkly flame, beautiful slightly reddish amber varnish. Fairly soft, open tone. Quite responsive for a trade fiddle, with a range of textures available in playing at the in playing at the bridge or near the fingerboard. Easy transition from light and quiet to fairly loud and substantially more pointed sound. Tone quite round and sweet. This is a nice fiddle. Images at URL link.
